ABOUT THE EVENT
Counsellors often invite their clients to tell their personal story as part of the therapeutic process. But professional counsellors also need to be able to tell their own story — particularly when they’re setting up a new private practice. A compelling story can help bridge the gap where a professional track record would otherwise have been an asset. But in order to resonate with potential clients, a new counsellor’s story and professional brand has to be intentionally crafted and congruently told.
In this two-part online workshop, participants will be individually interviewed by Joel Chua, an experienced talkshow interviewer — while the other participants observe as “audience members” and then co-creatively share feedback on the effectiveness of the interviewee’s responses and overall storytelling efficacy.
Joel will simulate an actual media interview with the aim of facilitating in the interviewee a mindset that supports an effective professional-standard presentation and delivery. As the interviewer/facilitator is also a practising psychotherapist, he will be able to identify aspects of the interviewee’s story for both style and substance and provide guidance on enhancements.
As part of the training process, Joel will also share fundamental principles on effective storytelling and delivery. In between sessions, Joel will also provide editorial guidance on the articulation of the participants’ individual personal brand statements and brand positioning.
Through the interview process, and with the co-creative feedback from fellow participants and professional-level guidance from Joel, participants will further develop the potency of their personal stories and uncover new and more effective ways to tell them as part of their brand.
In this session, you will:
-
Identify and develop compelling highlights in their personal journeys for their branding efforts.
-
Apply fundamental principles of storytelling and delivery to support their communication efficacy.
-
Acquire insights into how others are positioning themselves in order to more effectively differentiate their own brand.
